HP DeskMon: Administrator's Guide
Main Menu
The Main Menu of the DeskMon Configurator provides access to all the
configuration options.
NOTE You should select option 11 "Report Category Details" first. The
name or names of the report categories you configure will need to
be entered in the other screens.
You can select one of the following options:
1 Job Status
Allows DeskMon to check the status of any given job on your system,
whether it is EXECuting, WAITing to be streamed, SUSPended, or being
INTROduced. Takes you to the Job Status screen.
2 Mail Process Status
Allows DeskMon to check on the status of any of the standard HP
DeskManager processes (User Interface, Transport Manager, Master Trucks,
and so on), whether it is Running/Enabled or Down/Disabled. Takes you to
the Mail Process Status screen.
3 Mail Queue Status
Allows DeskMon to check whether the number of messages destined for any
given computer or gateway has exceeded a predetermined limit. Takes you
to the Mail Queue Status screen.
4 IPC File Status
Allows DeskMon to check whether the number of entries in any IPC file has
exceeded a predetermined limit. Takes you to the IPC File Status screen.
5 Dataset Status
Allows DeskMon to check whether certain HP DeskManager datasets (LOCAL07
- Item-Header, LOCAL08 - Item-Structure, and LOCAL09 - Item-Content),
have exceeded a predetermined percentage limit of their capacities.
Takes you to the Dataset Status screen.
6 External Application Checking
Allows DeskMon to invoke external programs. This facility also allows an
external program to indicate some result to DeskMon through a JCW. Takes
you to the External Application Checking screen.
10 Time Scheduling
Sets the time intervals during which DeskMon will do its checking. Takes
you to the Time Scheduling screen.
11 Report Category Details
Defines how DeskMon is to report problems and status messages. Takes you
to the Report Category Details screen.
12 System Details
Defines certain information local to the particular computer, and other
miscellaneous checks to perform. Takes you to the System Details screen.
At the Main Menu, the following function keys are available:
* HELP F1 provides a help screen on certain topics.
* REFRESH SCREEN F4 re-displays the current screen in case you
change your mind.
* CONFIG F5 takes you into the configuration screen for the option
area specified.
* EXIT F8 returns you to MPE or HP DeskManager (whichever you called
the DeskMon Configurator from).
