HP DeskMon: Administrator's Guide
Configuring DeskMon
After installation, DeskMon will perform no monitoring until it has been
configured using either the DeskMon Configurator, or the remote update
facility.
For a standalone system you will need to:
1. Install DeskMon on your HP 3000.
2. Set up DeskMon using the Configurator, see Chapter 3.
3. Start up DeskMon, see Appendix A "Operator Commands".
For implementing network monitoring, you will need to install DeskMon on
each machine in the network. Machines which have been designated as hubs
for centralized monitoring will have to be set up individually as above.
Machines which are satellite nodes can either be set up individually as
above or can be set up using the remote update facility as follows:
1. Set up one of the satellite nodes as above to create a DMUPDATE
file, see Chapter 4.
2. Use the DMUPDATE file to mail to the DMUPDATE server on each node.
See Chapter 4 for details about the remote update facility.
