HP DeskManager Intrinsics
Points to Note if You Run the Gateway Intrinsics
There are two new HP Desk operator commands which are needed for the
Gateway Intrinsics. MAILGATEINTON must be issued before the Gateway
Intrinsics can be used. MAILGATEINTOFF is used to turn off the Gateway
Intrinsics.
The file INTRNFLG.MAILDB.HPOFFICE must exist if you want to use
HPDGateReceive. Refer to Chapter 9 for more information.
[REV BEG]
You cannot run the Gateway Intrinsics if the HP Desk database is
unavailable, for example, MAILMAINT is running. A flag (GATEINT) is
included in the Supervisor Process management file (PROCMGMT) to signify
enablement of the Gateway Intrinsics. MAILGATEINTON is used to set this
flag. It is only possible to use the Gateway Intrinsics while you are
signed on to a gateway and this flag is set. If a MAILGATEINTOFF,
MAILOFF or MAILSHUTDOWN command is issued, the Driver process shuts down.
The Gateway Intrinsics check the GATEINT flag with each call, or every 2
minutes by timed read on the Driver process input IPC file.
[REV END]
The MAILSTATUS command can be used to show if the Gateway Intrinsics are
running. For example:

The HP Desk database needs to be configured for the Gateway Intrinsics.
This is done in the following way:
First add an Intrinsic Gateway. Get to the Network Menu. This is done
by pressing Network Menu at the Configuration Main Menu, or running the
Configurator if you are a Network Administrator. Because you have the
Intrinsics installed on your system, the Network menu differs slightly
from when the Intrinsics are not installed. It looks like this (although
some of the options will be missing if you are a Network Administrator
rather than a System Administrator):
Press Other Options. The following screen appears:
Press IGateway Menu. The following screen appears:
Type the name you want to give your Intrinsics gateway and a gateway
password.
You can also set the capabilities awarded to incoming messages received
by the gateway. The Everyone capability is normally set. The other
capabilities are required if you expect to receive Directory Updates
through the gateway. This adds the correct level of security, and allows
the incoming message to be processed by the *ADMIN server.
Press Add to add the gateway. You have now configured an Intrinsics
gateway. You can obtain a list of all the Intrinsics gateways on your
system by pressing List on the screen shown above. Note that these
entries will not take effect until the next system start-up.
Once you have configured the gateway you must configure at least one node
as routed out through that gateway.
If you don't already have a Default User and node configured on your
system, you must configure one now. This is done from the Local
Control Data Information screen, refer to the manual HP DeskManager
Administration for help on configuring HP Desk.
Running the Gateway Intrinsics introduces new processes into the HP Desk
transport system. These may be noticed when you give a MAILMANON or
MAILGATEINTON command. These new processes don't affect the operation of
your system but will show up on a MAILSTATUS ALL display.
