HEP Computing Solutions

• Traditionally the computing needs in High Energy Physics (HEP) were solved by solutions delivering the biggest "bang for the buck":

  • '60s and '70s: CDC and IBM mainframes
  • '80s: Cray XMP and IBM 3090's
  • Early '90s: Workstation farms
  • Now: Linux PC clusters
