6.9 Backing Up Your System

To back up the system.
  1. Mount a write-enabled tape to create a backup SLT.

    
      :SYSGEN
      sysgen>TAPE
      sysgen>EXIT
    
    
  2. Dismount the tape, label as SLT with date, time and system version.

  3. We recommend that you stop running the STM diagnostics daemon in order to back up the files associated with it. To do this, run the STMSHUT.DIAG.SYS program.

    
      :stmshut.diag.sys
      diagmond has been stopped
    
    

  4. Mount another blank tape and perform a full system backup.

    
      :FILE T;DEV=TAPE
      :STORE /;*T;DIRECTORY;SHOW
    
    
  5. Dismount the tape, label as backup with date, time and system version.

  6. Restart the STM daemons by running the STMSTART.DIAG.SYS program.

    
      :stmstart.diag.sys
      STM Diagnostic Monitor already stopped.
      diagmond has been started
      Please wait a few minutes for diagmond to complete 
      initialization
      STM system manager started
