Session Management

This section illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the Session Management screen and that you encounter when performing Session Management tasks.

Field nameMeans this
Session NameName of the session. This can be specified when logging on.
UserName of the user who started the session.
AccountLogon account of the user who started the session.
ProgramName of the program that the session is running (if there is one).
Start Date/TimeDate and time when a session started.

File Management

This section illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the File Management screen and that you encounter when performing File Management tasks.

Field nameMeans this
File NameName of the file. A file name can contain a maximum of eight alphanumeric characters and must begin with a letter.
GroupGroup where the file is located. Files located in the PUB group are usually files that all users share. Files in other groups are often private files for users in the group only.
AccountAccount where the file is located.
CodeIndicates the kind of file, for example, ASCII or WDOC.
StatusShows current file security (whether file is secured or released).
SizeShows size of the file in kilobytes. If a file is smaller than one kilobyte, <1 is displayed.

Print File Management

This section illustrates and defines fields that are displayed on the Print File Management screen and that you encounter when performing Print File Management tasks.

Field nameMeans this
Print File NameName of the file to be printed.
UserUser who created the print file.
AccountLogon account of the user who created the print file.
PrinterThe identification name or number of the printer where the files will be printed.
StatusThe status of a print file may be any one of the following:
CREATEThe print file is being created.
PRINTINGThe print file is currently printing.
READYThe print file is ready (waiting) to print.
ON HOLDThe print file is on hold. Cannot print until you take it off hold.
LOAD FORMA form is required and must be loaded before printing on this printer can continue.
ALIGN FORMA form has been loaded and requires alignment.
PROBLEMThere is a problem with the printer or with a print file. Check to make sure that the printer is switched on, or check for a paper jam.
UNKNOWNCause of the problem is unknown. Contact your system administrator for assistance.
No. of CopiesShows number of copies that will be printed.
LengthShows the approximate length (in pages) of each print file.
FormsIndicates the name of the form, if one is required.

Printer Management

This section illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the Printer Management screen and that you encounter when performing Printer Management tasks.

Field nameMeans this
PrinterIdentification name of the printer. Usually, each printer has one name assigned to it. In some cases, several printers may be grouped together under one name.
StatusPrinter status can be any one of the following:
ENABLEDThe system administrator has enabled the printer. It is available for printing.
DISABLEDThe system administrator has disabled the printer. If your print files are routed to this printer, they do not print until the printer is enabled.
UNKNOWNCause of problem is unknown. Contact your system administrator for assistance.
Outfence

The outfence is a number assigned to each printer on the system by the system administrator. The outfence is the minimum priority that a print file must exceed in order to print.

The outfence can be any value from 1 to 14. If the outfence is set at 5, for example, only those print files with a priority of 6 or higher can print. By adjusting the outfence higher or lower, the system administrator can control printing on specific printers.

Job Management

This section illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the Job Management screen and that you encounter when performing Job Management tasks.

Field NameMeans this
Job NameAn identification name given to each job when it is started or scheduled.
UserUser name under which the job is logged on.
AccountAccount under which the job is logged on.
ProgramThe name of the program that the job is running (if there is one).
StatusThe status of a job can be any one of the following:
ACTIVEThe job is running now.
READYThe job is ready (waiting) to run.
SCHEDThe job is scheduled to run at a later date and time.
ON HOLDThe job has been put on hold. It does not run until you take it off hold.
SUSPENDSomeone has suspended (interrupted) this job while it was running. It does not run until you resume processing.
Start Date/TimeDate and time a job started, or is scheduled to start.

Backup Management

This sections illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the Backup Management screen and that you encounter when performing Backup Management tasks.

TypeType of backup (full or partial).
DateDate that the backup was performed.
No. of TapesNumber of tapes needed to complete the backup.
DeviceTape drive on which the backup was performed.
Time NeededTime needed to complete the backup.
Files StoredNumber of files stored during the backup.
DayDay of the week a backup is scheduled.
TimeTime a backup is scheduled.
PrinterPrinter where the backup report will be printed.
Backup Report FileName of the file for the backup report.

Console Management

This section illustrates and defines the fields that are displayed on the Console Management screen and that you encounter when performing Console Management tasks.

Field NameMeans this
TimeTime when the system sent the message or request.
CreatorThe name and logon account of the user whose session or job created the message or request. If a message is sent from the system, the creator field is blank.
MessageMessages about what is happening on the system.
RequestRequests from the system that require a response.
