Working in Dialog Boxes

HP Easytime/iX uses dialog boxes to present information or to prompt you for data needed to complete a task. Dialog boxes are windows that appear on your screen overlaying a portion of the current display.

Dialog boxes usually contain one or more fields (areas that you can fill in or edit), or a list of choices from which you can select a value.

Whenever an ellipsis (...) appears after a menu item, you know that a dialog box (or another screen) follows.

When a dialog box appears, you may be asked to input information in any of the following ways:

Type the information in a field.
Select one or more items in a list.
Choose from a set of available options.

To type text in a field

Press Tab to move from one data-entry field to the next.
Type the requested information.

To correct typing errors

You can use any of the following keys to correct typing errors:

Delete a character	Delete char
Delete one character to the left	Backspace
Delete all characters	Delete line
Delete all characters to the right of the cursor	Clear line

To select from a list in a dialog box

You can select only one item from a list that appears within a dialog box. Often, one item that is highlighted (preselected) for you.

Use the [utrif] and [dtrif] keys to move the cursor to the item that you want to select.
Press either F3, Return, or Spacebar.

To choose options in a dialog box

Press Tab to move to the option that you want.
Press either F3, Return, or Spacebar to choose the option.
Selected choices are marked by either an asterisk <*>, or by [X].

To move in a dialog box

To close a dialog box

After you have supplied the requested information, press F5 {{OK}} to complete a task and close the dialog box.

To cancel a dialog box

Press F8 {{Cancel}} to cancel a task and close the dialog box.
