To copy one or more files stored on a tape to disk, you use
the RESTORE command. For example, you might need to restore a single
file when a user accidentally deletes it. Or, someone may ask you to restore
all the files in an account (after you have permanently archived it
and deleted the files) because the user needs access to the
files again. After a system failure, you might need to restore all of
your files from backup tapes.
In this chapter, you will find the procedures to perform the following tasks:
Determining what files are on a STORE tape
Restoring MPE and HFS files
Restoring files to specific volumes or to a specific device
Restoring files with a specified file code
Specifying a maximum number of files to restore
Specifying modification and last access dates
Restoring directory information
Selecting an error recovery method
Mounting additional tapes
