Listed below are the codes that are generated for X.25 link failures by the Qualified Logical Link Control (QLLC) module. They are listed in numerical order according to the ErrorNum displayed as part of these SNA Transport logging messages:

Link connect failure on node NodeName

subsystem = SubsysID, procedure = ProcNum, error num = ErrorNum

Link failure, recovery in progress on node NodeName

subsystem = SubsysID, procedure = ProcNum, error num = ErrorNum

Link failure, shutting down the node NodeName

subsystem = SubsysID, procedure = ProcNum, error num = ErrorNum

The logging messages are described in "SNA Transport Logging Messages" earlier in this appendix. The X.25 link-related ProcNum values are described in "X.25 Link QLLC Internal Error Codes" later in this appendix.

-14
MESSAGE

BAD FRAME RECEIVED

CAUSE

SNA/X.25 received an invalid QLLC control frame (QLLU) from the remote system.

ACTION

Try to reproduce the problem with link-level tracing turned on. Also, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-15
MESSAGE

REMOTE PROTOCOL ERROR

CAUSE

The remote system sent a QLLC control frame (QLLU) that violated the QLLC protocol. This can be caused by software errors on the IBM system or the HP 3000 system, or by the two end nodes being out of sync.

ACTION

Try to restart the SNA node. If the problem continues, reproduce it with link-level tracing turned on and call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-38
MESSAGE

QLLC INTERNAL ERROR

CAUSE

The Qualified Logical Link Control (QLLC) module has either encountered an internal error or received an error notification from NETIPC.

ACTION

Note the ProcNum displayed in the accompanying logging message. Then, look at the message with the corresponding number in "X.25 Link QLLC Internal Error Codes" later in this appendix. Also, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-74
MESSAGE

DATACOM LINE LOST

CAUSE

The virtual circuit has terminated. That is, it has been cleared, reset, or restarted.

ACTION

Since this is a recoverable link error, restart the SNA node. If the error still occurs, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-76
MESSAGE

DISCONNECT TIMER POPPED

CAUSE

The X.25 link has timed out while waiting for a solicited Q disconnect (QDC) from the remote system. The disconnect timer normally is running when the link is in the process of shutting down. Since the link is terminated when the timer pops, the desired result (shutting down the link) is achieved.

ACTION

Note that the solicited QDC was never received. No other action is necessary.

-77
MESSAGE

INACTIVITY TIMER POPPED

CAUSE

The time interval specified for Inactivity Timeout has elapsed since any packets were sent or received.

ACTION

Use NMMGR or the configuration file critical summary to ensure that the interval specified for Inactivity Timeout is correct. If the timeout occurs before a transaction is completed, try increasing the value of Inactivity Timeout. If the error still occurs, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-78
MESSAGE

CONNECT TIMER POPPED

CAUSE

The X.25 link has timed out waiting for a QSM from the remote system.

ACTION

Restart the SNA node. If the problem still occurs, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-79
MESSAGE

ALREADY CONNECTED

CAUSE

SNA Transport has requested an SNA connection for an X.25 link that is already connected.

ACTION

Call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-80
MESSAGE

DISCONNECT IN PROGRESS

CAUSE

SNA Transport has requested an SNA connection or disconnection while a QDC is pending from the remote system.

ACTION

Call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-81
MESSAGE

CONNECT IN PROGRESS

CAUSE

SNA Transport has requested an SNA connection or disconnection while the QSM from the remote system is pending.

ACTION

Call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-83
MESSAGE

UNEXPECTED QDC

CAUSE

The remote system has sent an unsolicited Q disconnect (QDC).

ACTION

Restart the SNA node. If the problem still occurs, call your Hewlett-Packard support contact.

-84
MESSAGE

UNEXPECTED QSM

CAUSE

The remote system has sent a QSM after the SNA connection has already been established.

ACTION

Since this is a recoverable link error, the SNA node will be revived. So, no action is necessary.
