NAME
sig_named — send signals to the domain name server
SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/sig_named
[kill
|
restart]
DESCRIPTION
sig_named
sends the appropriate signal to the domain name server
/usr/sbin/named.
The process
ID
is obtained from
/var/run/named.pid
or from
ps(1)
if
/var/run/named.pid
does not exist.
Options
sig_named
recognizes the following command-line arguments:
- kill
Kill the name server process.
- restart
Signal the name server to reload its database.
Previous Functionality
sig_named
shipped with earlier version of BIND was used to dump the database, to
set debug levels and to obtain named statistics. The
rndc
utility can be used instead.
