TRANSFORM/V by Eleanor Normile--Commercial Systems Division TRANSFORM/V version A.08.04 is now available in compatibility mode on the HP 3000 Series 900 computers running the MPE XL operating system. TRANSFORM/V PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The TRANSFORM/V product provides a migration path for IBM S/34 and S/36 RPG II applications to the HP 3000. The product consists of a set of conversion utilities which convert IBM source code and data files to compatible HP 3000 source and data files. These utilities automate much of the conversion process and significantly ease the task of migration. Converted applications are designed to execute under the PROCMON/V command and menu processor, which provides a run-time environment similar to that of the IBM system. KEY FEATURES Key Features of TRANSFORM/V are: transportation of IBM source libraries and data files to the HP 3000, translation of IBM source code to compatible HP 3000 source code and conversion of IBM data files to compatible HP 3000 data files. The conversion process is menu driven and verification reports are generated after each step. Source Load Utility The Source Load Utility (SLU) creates the TRANSFORM accounting structure, extracts files contained within an IBM source library and loads them into individual files on the HP 3000. EBCDIC to ASCII translation is also performed. Data Load Utility Data Load Utility (DLU) builds a KSAM, sequential or direct file from an IBM ISAM, sequential or direct file. EBCDIC to ASCII translation is also performed. RPG Source Translator The RPG Source Translator (RST) translates IBM RPG II source code to RPG/V source code, and creates compilation jobs for each source file. RPG Source Generator The RPG Source Generator (RSG) generates RPG source code from IBM Data File Utility specifications, and builds a compilation jobstream for each source file. OCL Translator The OCL Translator (OCLTRAN) translates OCL statements to PROCMON and MPE commands. Catalog Translator The Catalog Translator (CATTRAN) translates IBM message files to MPE message catalogs. River The River program sets up jobs for automatic compilation of RPG source files.
