Announcing HP WordServices

HP WordServices, a new host based formatter, works in conjunction with
AdvancePrint to provide HP Word/PC users access to a host for file
integration and shared printing capabilities.
HP WordServices is invoked from within HP Word/PC and provides the user
with added word processing functionality. It integrates with HP
Word/PC's user interface and screen labeled function keys making it
invisible to the user. This means no training is necessary.
With HP WordServices HP Word/PC users have the flexibility of integration
with HP 3000 files. Simply referencing the file name within the HP
Word/PC document will prompt HP WordServices to take care of integration
for you. For example, if you want to carry out a mailmerge with HP
ListKeeper nothing could be easier. Just name the mailmerge user
variables from within HP Word/PC, referencing the HP ListKeeper file.
Once the document is sent to print the mailmerge will take place.
HP WordServices also provides HP Word/PC users with the capability of
printing to the large system printers. Up to four different printers can
be configured with HP Word/PC giving users the flexibility of draft and
quality printing. HP Word/PC users can also print using their customized
environment files.
Printing with HP WordServices means that all formatting takes place on
the host, in background mode, freeing the PC and enabling users to
continue with other important tasks.
HP WORDSERVICES FEATURES EXPLAINED
* HP Word/PC and HP 3000 figure file integration. With HP
WordServices, HP Word/PC users can enhance the impact of their
documents by integrating with their HP 3000 figures files.
* Mailmerge with HP 3000 and PC files. HP WordServices enables HP
Word/PC users to carry out mailmerges with both HP 3000 and PC file
types including DIF, ASCII and MPE self describing files.
* Background formatting. With HP WordServices all formatting takes
place on the host, freeing the PC.
* System Printer Support. HP Word/PC users can print to the large
system printers including the HP 2680, HP 2688, HP 2934, the HP
RuggedWriter and the HP LaserJet family of printers.
* Environment File Support. With HP WordServices, HP Word/PC users can
print using the 51 default environment files. Users can also
continue printing using their customized environment files.

offering HP Word/3000 users a growth path to solutions based on the PC
and Series 900 machines. By adopting this smooth and easy growth path,

document file. Instructions on how to use HP WordServices to print the
guide can be found in the file README.JFPS.HPOFFICE after the product has
been installed on your HP 3000.
