COMMUNICATOR 3000/XL: XL REL. 2.2 (A.41.00)

Introducing HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol

by Bryan Wing--Information Networks Division

The HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol (FTP) product provides a de facto
standard network file transfer solution for the MPE XL HP 3000 family of
systems. With this product you can transfer and access files on other
systems that have implemented the de facto standard ARPA (Advance
Research Project Agency) FTP services. The ARPA FTP service has been
implemented on a variety of systems including DEC, SUN, IBM and others.

The HP ARPA FTP product allows MPE XL HP 3000 users access to files and
file-related information on remote hosts that have also implemented the
FTP service according to ARPA specifications. The HP ARPA FTP product
will also allow users on those remote hosts access to file and file
related information resident on MPE XL HP 3000 systems.

The HP ARPA File Transfer Protocol product will operate over the ThinLAN
3000/XL Link (P/N 36923A) and the DTC X.25 XL Network Link (P/Ns 2345A,
2346D/E/F/G, D2355A, 36939A).
