Printer Support Package (PSP)

In this version of the Printer Support Package (PSP):
* IDSFORM has been modified to be compatible with VPLUS/V.
* Only 2680A and 2688A printers are supported.
* IDSFORM is only supported by the HP150, and 2627A, 2393A and 2397A
graphics terminals.
HP 3000 XL COMPATIBILITY
The features of the PSP are the same for HP 3000 XL as for HP 3000/V. Any
differences or exceptions are listed in this article.
Printer Support
The 2680A and 2688A laser printers are supported by PSP. The impact
printer graphics described in Appendix I of the IFS Interactive
Formatting System Reference Guide (P/N 36580-90001) is not supported on
HP 3000 XL.
Configuration
Device class "PP" should be associated with the 2680A laser printer and
device class "PP88" associated with the 2688A. Installations that have
large volumes of graphic output may need to increase the number of
spoolfile sectors per extent to 1024.
Performance
Because PSP on HP 3000 XL is in Compatibility Mode, you won't see any
performance gain over Printer Support Package on the HP 3000.
INTERACTIVE FORMATTING SYSTEM (IFS)
No changes to Interactive Formatting System (IFS) were needed for HP 3000
XL. The file formats for Character Set files, Form files, and Environment
files are the same for HP 3000 XL.
Terminal Support
IFS is supported on any terminal that supports VPLUS/V: 2392A,
2393A, 2394A, 2397A, 2627A*, 2624B*, 2622A*, HP150 or Vectra in
terminal-emulation mode. Terminals with an asterisk (*) require a ROM
upgrade. Terminals using PSP on HP 3000 XL should be configured with
Receive Pace and Transmit Pace set to X-ON/X-OFF.
Environment Files
Environment files compiled with PSP on HP 3000 can be run with PSP on HP
3000 XL without recompilation. On HP 3000 XL, IFS can recompile
environment files created with PSP on the HP 3000 or created with PSP on
HP 3000 XL. Associated files (Character Set and Form) must be available
on HP 3000 XL to recompile the entire environment file. The standard set
of environment files described in Appendix C of the IFS Interactive
Formatting System Reference Guide will continue to be supplied with the
2680A and 2688A laser printers.
IDSFORM
IDSFORM has been modified to be compatible with VPLUS/V. The new version
is supported on the HP150, and the 2627A, 2393A and 2397A graphics
terminals. Terminals should be configured with Receive Pace and Transmit
Pace set to X-ON/X-OFF. Forms files created by IDSFORM under MPE can be
used with PSP on HP 3000 XL.
IFS INTRINSICS
PSP intrinsics are available to users from Compatibility Mode.
