COMMUNICATOR 3000/XL Release 1.0 (A.02.00)

Chapter 1  INTRODUCTION

Production Release A.02.00 is the latest release of HP 3000 system
software based on Release 1.0 of MPE XL. Several new products are
introduced on this release that expand the Hewlett Packard offering of
software solutions on commercial precision architecture systems.  This
release also delivers several product enhancements.

This version of the Communicator contains an informative article on the
naming convention and VUF nomenclature for all Commercial Systems XL
releases.

HP DESKMANAGER 

HP DeskManager version B.02.01, is the first released version of this
product to be supported on MPE XL. Some minor enhancements have been
incorporated in this version.  AdvanceMail is also supported along with
HP DeskManager B.02.01.

SOFTWARE PRODUCTS 

HP Graphics Curator/3000 is now being offered on MPE XL. This product is
an application that lets you convert between Graphics Gallery picture
files (generated on your PC) and HP 3000 figure files (used by TDP/3000).
Additionally, HP ListKeeper has been made completely compatible with HP
VPLUS/3000, allowing it to now run on MPE XL. Finally, the command and
menu processor, PROCMON/V is now available in Compatibility Mode on MPE
XL.

HP Business Report Writer/XL (HP BRW/XL) is now available on MPE XL in
Native Mode.  HP BRW/XL provides the ability to upgrade from HP BRW/V, as
well as the ability to transfer reports between HP BRW/V and BRW/XL in
both Native and Compatibility Mode.  HP BRW/XL also provides a tutorial
with version A.00.00.

DATA MANAGEMENT 

This Production Release of MPE XL introduces Information Access/XL. This
product will allow PC users to retrieve and manipulate data from IMAGE
databases on the HP 3000 and various PC databases, all through the same
user interface.  Information Access gains performance by running in
Native Mode.
