HP ALLBASE/SQL PC API User's Guide

Prepare the PC Client 

Before you install PC API on the PC client, complete the following steps:

   *   Install the supporting software.

   *   Check the networking configuration.

Install the Supporting Software 

When you install supporting software on the PC client, follow the order
specified below.

   1.  MS-DOS Operating System

   2.  Memory management software (optional)

   3.  Networking software

       CAUTION  If you are upgrading the LAN software, follow the
                instructions provided with the LAN software to ensure
                that network addresses configured for a previous release
                are not lost when the current release is installed.

   4.  Microsoft Windows

   5.  Application software

For specific instructions about installing each piece of supporting
software, refer to that product's installation guide.

Check the Network Configuration 

If you are using TCP/IP protocol, do the following steps:

   *   Type netsetup at the DOS prompt.

   *   Select Reconfigure network software.

   *   Check that NetIPC or sockets are configured, depending on the one
       you are using.

   *   Change the Socket Buffer size to 9600 or greater.

   *   Set demand load=NO.

   *   If you are using Sockets (ARPA), ensure that the number of Socket
       Sessions is greater than or equal to the number of concurrent
       connections that you expect to use.

   *   If you are using NetIPC (NS), ensure that the number of NetIPC
       Sessions is greater than or equal to the number of concurrent
       connections that you expect to use.
