Chapter 2  Developing COBOL Applications 

The Micro Focus COBOL software system provides all the tools you need to
develop modern COBOL applications to run under UNIX operating systems.

The COBOL system provides many options.  These enable you to use the
system in many different ways to achieve different goals.  However, it
might make the system seem complex to use.  This chapter shows you the
standard method for compiling your programs and creating working
applications.  When you have read this chapter you should be equipped to
start creating your own applications.

Before reading this chapter you should have read and followed the
instructions in the Getting Started book, which gives a brief overview of
using the system and details how you can input the supplied demonstration
programs to the cob command.
