Chapter 8 Library Routines (Call-by-Name) The run-time system supplied with this product has a library of routines available using the COBOL CALL statement. These routines generally supply features that cannot be accessed using COBOL syntax. Those routines which are accessed by calling a name are referred to as call-by-name routines. This chapter describes only those call-by-name routines that are portable between UNIX and non-UNIX environments. Details on UNIX-specific routines are contained in Appendix A , Advanced Programming Features.
