COBOL/HP-UX Operating Guide for the Series 700 and 800

Overview

Your COBOL system includes syntax which supports windowing:

   *   DISPLAY WINDOW

   *   DISPLAY LINE

   *   DISPLAY BOX

   *   CLOSE WINDOW

The DISPLAY WINDOW statement creates a terminal window (a rectangular
region of the screen) and makes it the current window. This is like a
virtual terminal, in which screen positions are relative to the top left
corner of the window. The window can be removed using the CLOSE WINDOW
statement; if you specify the window as being a POP-UP, the underlying
display can be restored.

The DISPLAY LINE statement allows you to draw lines on the terminal (real
or virtual), automatically using the best mode available on the terminal.

The DISPLAY BOX statement is similar, and allows you to draw boxes on the
terminal.

Used together, the DISPLAY LINE and DISPLAY BOX statements allow you to
draw forms on the terminal.
