Changing Drives
You associated sharenames with shared discs in the Resource Manager
Utility (RESMGR) when you shared the discs. In DISCMGR, you connect to
shared discs by linking drive letters to the sharenames via USE commands.
Once you've connected to a shared disc, you change drives simply by
typing its drive letter at the DISCMGR> prompt.
Figure 12-1. Shared Discs Connected to Drive Letters
For example, use J: as your shared disc "JOE," then use S: as your shared
disc "SALES." To copy a memo from "JOE" to "SALES," type this command at
the DISCMGR> prompt:
COPY J:\MEMO TO S:\MEMO
Try the same task, but first type J: to change your active drive. The
prompt changes to show that you're working on the J: drive. Now you can
type the COPY command without typing the source file's drive letter, as
in the following sequence:
DISCMGR>J:
DISCMGR J:\>COPY MEMO TO S:\MEMO
PC users type a drive letter at the DOS prompt to change drives.
The drive letter you designate for "JOE" in DISCMGR does not have to be
the same letter you use to designate "JOE" from DOS on a PC. Keeping the
drive letters consistent, however, helps to eliminate confusion.
