DIR
The DIR command lists alphabetically the contents of the current
directory. It also shows the size, time, and date of creation of
individual files, as well as the number of files in the directory.
Abbreviation: None
[/P ]
DIR [drive:][path][filename] [/W ]
[> device]
drive: Drive of the directory you want displayed.
path Any valid DOS path to the directory you want displayed.
filename File or fileset (with wildcards) to be listed.
/P Pauses the display when the screen is full, allowing you
to read your directory list a screen at a time. Press
any key when you are ready to see the next screen
display.
/W Displays the list in a wide format. Files are listed
alphabetically in five columns, but no size, time or
date information is displayed.
> device Lists the files to an alternate device. It can be any
valid MPE device class name or a back-referenced MPE
file equation.
The drive:, path, and filename options let you specify precisely the
fileset you want to list. You can list an individual filename, or you
can use wildcards to list a particular fileset.
For example, to display all filenames beginning with the letter G on disc
M: in subdirectory DIR2 under subdirectory DIR1, enter:
DIR M:\DIR1\DIR2\G*.*
The resulting display might look like this:
Volume in drive M: is MIKE
Directory of M:\DIR1\DIR2
