Running Disc Manager in Batch Mode
You can stream a batch job like the one shown below to perform file
conversion and manipulate files with the Disc Manager Utility (DISCMGR).
!JOB DISCONV,FRED.MIS
!DISCMGR.PPC.SYS
SWITCH ECHO ON
USE F: \FREDJ
F:
MPETODOS EXPENSES TO \STATS\EXPENSES.IRS
MPETODOS PROFITS TO \STATS\PROFITS.IRS
MPETODOS SUMMARY TO \STATS\SUMMARY.IRS
USE F: /D
EXIT
!TELL FRED.MIS; (DISCONV) JOB COMPLETED
!EOJ
In the above job, the SWITCH ECHO ON command lets you see the commands in
the job printed on the $STDLIST device you've configured.
Keep in mind that if you have an AUTOCONN file for automatic connections
to the shared disc you want to use in a batch file, you won't need to
enter the USE command as specified in the above example.
NOTE Many DISCMGR commands issued interactively execute only after
you've answered a prompt. For example, if you enter:
DEL *.*
DISCMGR asks:
Are you sure (Y/N)?
This helps to prevent you from accidentally deleting all the files
in your shared disc. In batch mode, DISCMGR executes your commands
as you issue them, since prompting dialogue is not possible in a
streamed job. Make sure your DISCMGR batch job contains commands
that will perform precisely the tasks you want.
