HP Micro Focus COBOL/iX Implementation Notes
System Configuration
HP Micro Focus COBOL/iX is already configured to run on your HP 3000.
You can change the default configuration and you can control certain
machine independent features, such as the message text that HP Micro
Focus COBOL/iX displays. See the COBOL/HP-UX Operating Guide for more
information. The system administrator should make all the changes to the
HP Micro Focus COBOL/iX default configuration.
Finding the Product Type Identifier (PTI)
The COBOL/HP-UX Operating Guide indicates that certain features Micro
Focus COBOL are available only on certain implementations. The
$COBDIR/cobver file contains a Product Type Identifier (PTI) field that
identifies your implementation.
The PTI can be the following:
NLS Your product includes Native Language Support features
FED Your product supports TI's FED features
Kanji-EUC Your product supports Kanji using EUC coding
Kanji-SHIFTJIS Your product supports Kanji using Shift JIS coding
If there is a PTI, your implementation supports those features which
your COBOL/HP-UX Operating Guide identifies as supported by that
implementation. The PTI follows the PRN (Product Reference Number), and
if more than one PTI applies to you implementation, each will appear on a
separate line.
Finding the Version Number
To find the version number of HP Micro Focus COBOL/iX, execute the cobrun
command in /usr/bin. The version number is displayed on the first line
of the banner.
