HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900
Preinstallation Activities
Before starting the actual configuration of the network to establish
connection to the HP Response Center Node, there are activities that need
to occur and addresses that need to be obtained.
Network CE Activities
* Consult and coordinate with the HP Response Center Contact on
setting up the customer's network connection to the HP Response
Center Node. For leased line access, it often takes a minimum of
90 days after a leased line is requested from the phone company.
* Verify that the X.25 link connections to HP are established and
working.
* Determine whether an HP 3000 or router will be used as the
Predictive Gateway Node.
* If an HP 3000 will be used as the Predictive Gateway Node,
identify which HP 3000 on the network will route all Predictive
data to the HP X.25 NETWORK.
* Obtain the following Predictive Gateway Node address information:
* Request from the HP Response Center Contact the X.25
Network IP Address to be configured on the Predictive
Gateway Node as its own X.25 IP address.
* Request from the Account CE the LAN Network IP address for
the router gateway. If an HP 3000 is used as a gateway, it
is assumed that the HP 3000 is already configured as part
of the customer's LAN network.
* Obtain the following HP Response Center address information:
* If the customer is using a leased line or private network
to access the HP X.25 NETWORK, request from the Account CE
an unused or available X.25 address on the customer's
network for the HP Response Center Node. In our example,
this is 1234 5678 06 0200 which the X.25 Switching Node
will translate to 8700 5555 555 555.
If the customer is using a PDN to access the HP X.25
NETWORK, request from the HP Response Center Contact an
unused or available PDN X.25 address for the HP Response
Center Node.
* Request from the HP Response Center Contact the X.25
Network IP address for the HP Response Center Node. In our
example, this is B 122.222 222.050.
* Request from the HP Response Center Contact the node name
of the HP Response Center Node. This node name needs to be
configured at the satellite node(s) whether the Predictive
Gateway Node is an HP 3000 or an HP Router ER. In our
example, the nodename is predict.x25.hp.
For HP 3000 Predictive Gateway Node.
* Determine the customer's network interface (NI) name used to
identify the software that interfaces the HP 3000 Predictive
Gateway Node to the X.25 network. In our example, the NI name is
x25pred.
Account CE Activities
* If the customer is using a leased line or private network to
access the HP X.25 NETWORK, request from the customer an unused or
available X.25 address for the HP Response Center Node. Make sure
to give the Network CE this X.25 address. In our example, this
X.25 address is 1234 5678 06 0200.
* Request from the customer the Network IP address for the
customer's network(s) that the Predictive Gateway Node is serving
as a neighbor gateway. In our example, this is a LAN network
whose LAN Network IP address is A 111 111.111.222.
* Work with the Network CE to configure the X.25 Network IP Address
(received from the HP Response Center Contact) on the Predictive
Gateway Node as its own X.25 IP address.
For HP 3000 Predictive Gateway Node.
* Request from the customer the network interface (NI) name used to
identify the software that interfaces the HP 3000 Predictive
Gateway Node to the network of satellite nodes. In our example,
the NI name is lan1.
