HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900

Electronic File Transfer

At the end of its run, HP Predictive Support can automatically connect to
the HP Response Center and transfer the results of its analyses using a
remote support modem or the X.25 network (Enhanced File Transfer).

Modem

HP Predictive Support can automatically dial the HP Response Center, or
the system administrator can dial the modem and then have HP Predictive
Support transmit its data to the HP Response Center. With contact
established, the HP Response Center can also automatically download
ruleset updates and new code words. See Chapter 2, Phase 4: Checking
the Electronic File Transfer Requirements, for details.

The file transfer time rate is about 210 bytes per second at 2400 baud.
Based on the typical sizes of the files that will be transferred, use the
following estimates:

   * To the HP Response Center - approximately two to five minutes.

   * From the HP Response Center

          * Two to three minutes per ruleset download.

          * Two to three minutes per code word transfer (plus up to an
additional 15 minutes may be required for code word
processing by the HP Response Center.)

Enhanced File transfer (EFT)

EFT (X.25 connectivity) allows the transferring of data to the HP
Response Center using a leased line, Public Data Network (PDN), or
private network. See Appendix H for details. The EFT option is only
available to customers with NetAssure contract. Contact your HP Account
CE for further details on using the EFT option.
