HP Predictive Support CE Guide For HP 3000 Series 900

Phase 6:  Checking System Logging 

Run SYSGEN and ensure that logging is "ON" for the following events:

   *   100, System logging enabled
   *   107, Power fail record
   *   111, I/O error record
   *   146, Maintenance request log
   *   150, Diagnostics information record
   *   152, Low priority machine check (LPMC)

Procedures Through SYSGEN: (Figure 2-2 illustrates the following steps.)

   1.  Log on as manager.sys

   2.  Type the following at the MPE prompt and press Return:

            sysgen

   3.  Type log at the sysgen> prompt.

   4.  Type show at the log> prompt.  The logging status for all event
       numbers should be displayed.

   5.  Verify that the status for events 107, 111, 146, 150, and 152 is
       "ON".  If not, change the status.

| To Change the Status:                                                |

|    a.  Type the following at the log> prompt and press Return:       |
|                                                                      |
|        slog on=event#                                                |
|                                                                      |
|        where event# is 107, 111, 146, 150, or 152 (as appropriate).  |
|                                                                      |
|    b.  Type hold and press Return.                                   |
|                                                                      |
|    c.  Type exit to return to the SYSGEN> prompt.                    |

6.  Type keep, if you made any changes.

7.  Type exit to return to MPE.


NOTE If changes have been made, do not restart the system at this time. Proceed to "Phase 8: Checking the Datacomm Port Configuration," first. This avoids a second restart should changes to the datacomm port configuration be required. Then, return to "Phase 7: Determining the HP Predictive Support Run Schedule."
Figure 2-2 illustrates a sample interchange with SYSGEN. Note that logging for event 146 is changed from "OFF" to "ON".
