Note 1. The two sets of switches on the underside of the HP
50759A modem are arbitrarily named S (with 8 switches
and X (with 4 switches). The internal jumper must be
set to "DSR follows OH."
Note 2. If the HP 50759A modem has not been upgraded, settings
for autodial must be: S4, S6, S8, X4: Down; All
others: Up.
2. Power the modem off and back on again.
3. Ensure that cable connections are securely in place.
4. Plug the analog phone line into the appropriate modem jack (for
example, "TELCO" or "Line Jack").
5. If a phone is available, attach it to the modem and dial the HP
Response Center to make sure the connection works.
6. If cabled for remote console access, verify that the remote
console is disabled.
Check the I/O Map
1. Log on as manager.sys,pub.
2. Type sysdiag.
3. Type sysmap at the DUI> prompt.
4. Type iomap at the ENTER MAP> prompt.
5. Type confirm on at the IOMAP> prompt.
6. Type general at the IOMAP> prompt.
7. Verify that the physical system matches the displayed information.
8. Verify the accuracy of any I/O MAP statements of "ID is
Incorrect".
9. Note any discrepancies. Correct the improperly configured devices
in SYSGEN. Remember that a change to SYSGEN requires a system
restart.
10. Type e repeatedly until you return to MPE.
Configure HP Predictive Support
1. Type run psconfig.pred.sys at the MPE prompt.
2. Enter the information for which you are prompted.
Run HP Predictive Support
1. From the psconfig Main Menu, type 1 or run
OR
From MPE, type psconfig.pred.sys;info="run"
2. At the end of the run, verify whether or not an active code word
was received (see below).
Verify Code Word
Check the meaning and recommended action of the key associated with the
code word download message: Code word request has been successfully
processed. [PSCDxx]
Refer to the following key list.
Key: PSCTEX
Meaning: A temporary code word has been downloaded because a contract for this
customer has expired.
Action: The action is the same as PSCWDTM.
Table 1-2. (cont.)
Key: PSCWDDV
Meaning: A temporary code word has been downloaded. It is the same as the one
that was sent previously. A duplicate download of the same temporary
code word occurs under either of the following conditions:
Condition 1: You are reinstalling the software, and there is still no
contract information in IBS/SPORTS, or IBS/SPORTS is still unavailable.
Action: Verify the system serial number, system model number, and customer
contract area code in psconfig against the customer contract.
* If the information in psconfig matches the customer contract, go
to the psconfig Maintenance Menu and use the Send Comment
function to inform the HP Response Center that a temporary code
word was received although the customer information in psconfig
is correct.
* If the information in psconfig does not match the customer
contract, make the corrections and retry the request. go to the
psconfig Transfer Data Menus and initiate a REQUEST.
A new regular code word should be received.
Condition 2: The code word is in grace period, and IBS/SPORTS was not
available at the time of the request. (HP Predictive Support transmits
a code word request on the 50th day after the code word expires. If it
does not receive a new one, it continues to transmit a request every 20
days until a new code word is received. If by the 70th day a new code
word is not received, a warning message is sent to the HP Response
Center).
Action: No action required. If a regular code word is not received by the 70th
day after expiration, a warning message is sent to the HP Response
Center, which generates a CSO that is forwarded to an RCE and Account
CE. Any discrepancies should be resolved at that time.
Key: PSCWDNO
Meaning: No code word has been downloaded. This message occurs when the current
code word is in its grace period, and an IBS/SPORTS contract was not
found for this customer system.
Action: Verify the system serial number, system model number, and customer
contract area code in psconfig against the customer contract.
* If the information in psconfig matches the customer contract, go
to the psconfig Maintenance Menu and use the Send Comment
function to inform the HP Response Center that a temporary code
word was received although the customer information entered into
psconfig is correct.
* If the information in psconfig does not match the customer
contract, make the corrections and retry the request:
* Go to the psconfig Transfer Data Menus and initiate a
REQUEST.
A new regular code word should be received.
Table 1-2. (cont.)
Key: PSCWDRE
Meaning: A regular code code word has been downloaded.
Action: No action required.
Key: PSCWDTM
Meaning: A temporary code word has been downloaded.
Action: Verify that the system serial number, system model number, and customer
contract area code in psconfig match the IBS/SPORTS customer contract.
* If the information in psconfig is correct, telephone your area
office and verify whether there is a valid IBS/SPORTS customer
contract.
* If the information in psconfig is not correct, make the
corrections and retry the request.
* Go to the psconfig Transfer Data Menu and initiate a
REQUEST.
If a match is found, a regular code word will be downloaded and
processed immediately.
Key: PSCWDUN
Meaning: A code word, known as a "UNION" code word, has been downloaded. This
occurs when the customer contract has been renewed.
Action: None.
Key: PSDBUN
Meaning: A temporary code word has been downloaded. The customer contract could
not be verified because IBS/SPORTS was not available at the time of the
request.
Action: The action is the same as PSCWDTM.
Key: PSREIN
Meaning: The temporary code word downloaded to the customer system is the same
as one that has been previously downloaded.
Action: See PSCWDDV.
Key: PSNOCT
Meaning: A temporary code word has been downloaded because a contract for this
customer could not be found.
Action: The action is the same as PSCWDTM.
Review Action Summary Reports
1. Review and explain to the customer the contents of the Action
Summary Report, including the different event messages.
2. For the first run, resolve event messages preceded by an
INFORMATIONAL (RC), WARNING, or WARNING (RC).
3. For subsequent runs, advise the customer to resolve event messages
preceded by a WARNING, or WARNING (RC).
