HP LaserRX/MPE Software Update Notice
Installation Instructions
Use the appropriate sections below depending on whether you are
installing from an MPE SUBSYS tape or updating from a software patch.
Installing from an MPE SUBSYS tape
If you are installing or updating the HP Performance Collection Software
on your HP 3000 from an MPE SUBSYS tape, perform the instructions in this
topic.
MPE/iX systems.
1. Read chapter 1, "Read Me First", in the HP 3000 MPE/iX
Installation, Update, and Add-On Manual, part number 36123-90001.
2. If you are updating your MPE/iX operating system and HP
Performance Collection Software at the same time, follow the
instructions in chapter 2 titled "Updating MPE/iX".
3. If you are installing or updating only HP Performance Collection
Software and not the MPE/iX operating system, follow the
instructions in chapter 3, "Adding On Purchased Products - SUBSYS
Only".
4. After completing the AUTOINST installation, continue in this
manual at the "Completing the HP 3000 Installation" section.
MPE V systems.
1. If you are updating the MPE V operating system and HP Performance
Collection Software at the same time, follow the instructions in
the HP 3000 Software Update Manual, part number 32033-90036.
2. If you are only updating HP Performance Collection Software and
not the MPE V operating system, follow the instructions in the HP
3000 Software Add-On Manual, part number 32033-90048.
3. After completing the AUTOINST installation, continue in this
manual at the "Completing the HP 3000 Installation" section.
Updating from a Software Patch
If you are updating an older version of HP Performance Collection
Software on an MPE/iX system, you can apply a software patch instead of
loading the software from a SUBSYS tape. Ask your HP support
representative for patch LRXHX04, version A or later.
To update an existing version of the collection software on an MPE/iX
system, do the following:
1. Restore the four patch files to the PATCHXL.TELESUP group on your
system.
2. Stream I00HX04A.PATCHXL.TELESUP.
3. When prompted, enter the name of a group in the SYS account where
a copy of the current SCOPE collector files can be saved. If the
installation fails, copy the files in this group back into the
SCOPE group.
4. When the installation is complete, the installation program
streams JCONFJOB.NET.SYS. If the stream fails because of an
invalid password, manually stream JCONFJOB.NET.SYS at a convenient
time.
5. Before you can use the new data communication servers, you must
stop and restart the network with the NSCONTROL and NETCONTROL
commands.
If the installation completes successfully, the SCOPE collector files
saved earlier are purged.
After completing the steps above, continue with the "Completing the HP
3000 Installation" section later in this chapter.
