Connection Basics
Your PC can be connected to an HP 3000 through HP LaserRX/MPE using two
remote file access modes: serial and LAN.
Your PC can be connected through HP LaserRX/MPE to up to five systems at
a time (five LAN connections or one serial and four LAN connections).
Note that only one serial connection can be made at a time.
You can execute HP LaserRX/MPE under real, standard, or enhanced modes of
Microsoft Windows 3.0.
About the Logon String
It is important to always use the proper logon string. HP LaserRX/MPE
requires access to remote data communications libraries (SL.SCOPE.SYS for
MPE V systems; XL.SCOPE.SYS for MPE XL systems).
You are advised to log in to the group and account SCOPE.SYS. Logging in
to any other group prevents MPE V systems from finding the remote data
communications library. (This is not necessary for MPE XL systems if
default security is used for the SCOPE.SYS group.)
With MPE V systems, you can log into another group by making a copy of
the communications library--SL.SCOPE.SYS--in that logon group. This is
not recommended since you would have to remember to repeat this copy with
every HP LaserRX/MPE software update.
