Checking the Telnet Connection Status 

While connected to the HP 3000, you can check the status of your
connection at any time:   

     node3000(PUB): [CTRL]-]
     telnet> status
     Connected to node3000.cup.hp.com
     Operating in character-at-a-time mode.
     Escape character is "^]"
