HP DeskManager Customization
Chapter 9 Script Files
A script file is a normal HP Desk text item or an MPE file containing a
series of commands. When you execute a script, the commands that are
held in it are carried out.
Scripts are normally installed into HP Desk so that other users on the
system can use them. Scripts can only be installed by someone who is a
member of the Script Install capability group or has a user-capability of
System Administrator. However, any user can write and use their own
personal scripts.
There are two ways to execute a script file:
* If the script is installed type the name of the installed script
file.
* If the script file is not installed, then you will need to use the
SCRIPT command to execute the file.
This chapter explains how to create, install, and use script files.
However, the best way to learn about script files is to try to write some
of your own! For more information you should look at Chapter 10
which explains each of the script commands in detail. "Script Examples"
gives some examples of script files.
