HP DeskManager Customization

Creating a Form

HP Desk has no in-built facility for the creation of forms. They must be
created outside HP Desk using the MPE utility FORMSPEC.PUB.SYS. The HP
Data Entry and Forms Management System VPLUS/3000 describes the process
of designing and creating forms using the utility in detail. Any HP Desk
user with a suitable terminal can run this utility from MPE. However, the
complexity of the utility means that in most cases the creation of forms
for use on your system is an administration task rather then a user task.

You can create forms for individual users or for general availability to
HP Desk users. A form created for individual use can be copied to that
user's MPE account or Work Area. Forms that are to be generally
available to HP Desk users must be installed on the system for specific
capability groups such as the "Everyone" group. (See the HP DeskManager
Administration manual for details on User Capability groups.)

To let users know what forms are available, putting a list of the forms
together with short descriptions on the NoticeBoard can be an effective
way of publicizing what forms are available.

Once installed the forms are stored within a special folder in the HP
Desk database called the System Forms folder. Once a form is installed
it can be sent by anyone who has the capability to access the installed
form. Users who receive forms packages can fill in and return the forms,
despite the fact that they may not have had the capability to send the
form.
