Synchronizing the Software Table
Whenever media are inserted or removed from the Model 20GB/A, the media
manager needs to know what is available in the device. This task is
known as "synchronizing the software table". Synchronizing the software
table is accomplished with the SYNCTABLE command of MOUTIL.
1. Run MOUTIL by entering MOUTIL at the system prompt. For example:
:MOUTIL
2. Enter the SYNCTABLE command at the MOUTIL prompt. For example:
moutil: SYNCTABLE LDEV=101
The system responds with the following message:
*Note: MOUTIL is synchronizing the Optical Disk Library System tables.
*Note: Each media storage slot requires up to 1 1/2 minutes to synchronize.
*Note: There are "xx" media storage slots requiring synchronization.
If all 32 slots need to be synchronized, the synchronization process can
take up to 45 minutes.
NOTE When either the LOAD or UNLOAD command is used, the subsequent
synchronization process is accelerated. Because only certain media
storage slots are released, the SYNCTABLE command will synchronize
only unreserved and currently occupied media storage slots.
