ALLBASE/SQL Performance and Monitoring Guidelines

Introduction 

SQLMON is an online diagnostic tool that monitors the activity of a
DBEnvironment.  SQLMON screens provide information on file capacity,
locking, I/O, logging, tables, and indexes.  They summarize activity for
the entire DBEnvironment, or focus on individual sessions, programs, or
database components.  SQLMON is a read-only utility, and cannot modify
any aspect of the DBEnvironment.

SQLMON can serve as

   *   a tool for learning about your DBEnvironment

   *   a development tool for application programmers

   *   a monitoring tool for tuning your DBEnvironment

   *   a troubleshooting tool for detecting performance problems
