Chapter 1 Overview This manual contains procedures to boot, configure and start up your new operating system for the HP 3000 Series 990 and 992. Your system comes from the factory with the fundamental operating software (FOS), system files, and purchased products pre-installed. A factory preload tape (FPT) containing the software that was installed on your system is also supplied. If you are not able to complete all the procedures described in chapter 2, "Starting your System," it may be necessary to perform a recovery of your system software using the FPT. This recovery process should be only performed by your Hewlett-Packard representative or by trained System Management personnel. Instructions for recovering the factory preloaded software are in chapter 4, "Recovering your System"
