HP Business BASIC/XL Migration Guide
Migrating Data Files
Follow the steps below to migrate a data file.
1. Back up the file using BACKUP, DUPL, or FVBACK (as described in
the BASIC/260 Utilities Manual).
2. Make an unprotected copy of the data file. An example of using
the COPY command is shown below:
COPY "MYFILE,PASS" TO "MYDATA"
3. Move the data file from the HP 260 to the HP 3000, using the
ARCHIVE TRANSFER softkey. See chapter 21, "Migrating FORMS/260
Forms," for information about using TRNSFR, or refer to the DSN/DS
User's Manual for DSN/DS instructions.
4. Migrate the data file into HP Business BASIC/XL. Use the migration
aid's DATA command, as described in this chapter.

NOTE The output file created by the migration aid will be a BASIC
DATA file with the file code, BDTXL, if OPTION MPEXL is
specified. OPTION MPEV changes BASIC 260 DATA files into HP
Business BASIC/XL DATA (BDATA) files. OPTION MPEV is a
default option.
