Choosing an Appropriate File Moving Method
Two packages are available for moving files from the HP 260 to the HP
3000:
1. DSN/DS and PERFORM
2. TRNSFR
Each package is described below:
DSN/DS
DSN/DS is a program that provides virtual terminal access to the HP 3000
and file moving capabilities between the HP 260 and the HP 3000 via
DS/3000 facilities. You need an Intelligent Network Processor (INP) on
each system.
The DSN/DS program allows you to use an HP 260 work station to do the
following:
* Use the HP 260 as a remote terminal to the HP 3000.
* Execute HP 260 commands locally.
* Move data files between the HP 260 and the HP 3000 in either
direction.
* Store HP 260 data files on the HP 3000 and retrieve them on any HP
260.
* Batch move multiple files from the HP 260 to the HP 3000. You need
PERFORM DROM to do this.
Using DSN/DS and PERFORM. The DSN/DS product is not supplied with HP
Business BASIC/XL. DSN/DS is separate. However, DSN/DS provides the
fastest means available for moving files from the HP 260 to the HP 3000.
Refer to the DSN/DS 260 Manual for complete information about configuring
the HP 260 and the HP 3000 for use with this program, and moving files
with DSN/DS.
Install PERFORM DROM on your HP 260 for automated file moving between the
HP 260 and the HP 3000. Refer to the BASIC/260 Programming Manual for
complete information about PERFORM. This chapter includes an example of
using PERFORM with DSN/DS to move files automatically from the HP 260 to
the HP 3000.
