MPE/iX Commands Reference Manual Volume I

ESCAPE

Allows the CI programmer to simulate all aspects of CI error handling.
(Native Mode)

Syntax

ESCAPE [[CIERR=] errnum]

Parameters

ERRNUM Sets the CIERROR variable to the absolute value of
errnum and the HPCIERR variable is set to errnum.

Operation Notes

The ESCAPE command causes control to leave all user commands (regardless
of nesting levels) and return to the CI. Batch jobs terminate (unless a
CONTINUE is in effect) and sessions issue the prompt.

If no CONTINUE is active, ESCAPE causes the CI to act as it would for any
error: for sessions the user command environment is cleared and the
prompt is displayed; jobs terminate.

If CONTINUE is active , then ESCAPE causes the CI to execute the second
command after the CONTINUE. In the following example, the CI will execute
cmd2 after the ESCAPE.

     cmd1
     CONTINUE
     udc1
          ucmdA
          ucmdB
          ESCAPE
     cmd2

Use

This command may be issued from a session, job, program, or in BREAK.
Pressing BREAK has no effect on this command.

Example

     errclear
     continue
     run database
     if hpcierr < 0 then
echo database warning ![abs(hpcierr)] detected, proceeding...
     elseif hpcierr > 0 then
echo FATAL database error !hpcierr detected, halting...
          escape
     else
     :
     endif
