New Features of MPE/iX: Using the Hierarchical File System

Chapter 8 Backing Up and Recovering MPE/iX

Enhancements to the file system allow files to be stored at every level
of the directory hierarchy, such as below the root directory, within
directories and subdirectories, and within directories subordinate to
groups. Changes were made to the STORE and RESTORE commands so that all
of the directories and files on the system can be backed up.

This chapter generally describes the changes to the STORE and RESTORE
commands as a result of the introduction of the hierarchical file system.
It is especially important for system administrators to be aware of these
changes. For the complete syntax of the STORE and RESTORE commands,
refer to the MPE/iX Commands Reference Manual, Vol. II (32650-90374).
