Performing System Management Tasks

Cross-Validating
NMCONFIG.PUB.SYSwith SYSGEN

One of the system manager's jobs is to configure terminals, printers, the
local area network (LAN) and all Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units
that are not hard-wired on your system. To do so, you use the node
management services network manager program, or NMMGR.

After you are finished running NMMGR and have validated the configuration
file you created, you must cross-validate it with the configuration file
you created with SYSGEN. Cross-validation ensures that there are no
conflicts between the network configuration file (NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS) and
the system configuration file generated with SYSGEN.

To use NMMGR to cross-validate the network management configuration file
and the system configuration file, do the following:

   1. Create the network configuration file NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS.

   2. Log into the SYS account and run NMMGR.PUB.SYS.

   3. Enter any required identification information and define your
       network configuration.

   4. At the command prompt at the top of the NMMGR screen, enter:

            command:?>
            validate

   5. At the Validate screen, press the Validate DTS/Link softkey.

NMMGR prints the total number of errors found and any error
messages. Once validation is complete, it starts SYSGEN for you
and automatically begins cross-validating the configuration files.
       You'll see this message:

            Starting cross validation with SYSGEN

NMMGR automatically keeps the configuration information to the
       group CONFIG.SYS and exits SYSGEN.

   6. After validation and cross-validation are successfully complete,
       exit NMMGR.

NOTE For complete information about using NMMGR to configure your system, Refer to Configuring Systems for Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial Devices (32022-90001).
