Chapter 3  Defining Input/Output Devices 

You use the IO configurator to find out information about the input and
output devices configured on a system and to change the configuration as
necessary.  Once you keep the changes, you activate the new configuration
on the system by rebooting with START NORECOVERY. You can also keep the
changes and generate a new system load tape (SLT) to update or install
another system.
