QUERY CHARACTER SET The following ASCII characters are defined as the QUERY character set: A through Z, a through z, 0 through 9, and +-*/?'#&@% All other characters are referred to as special characters. When you encounter the term special characters in the following sections, it refers to all characters which are not part of this set. Blanks are special characters. The complete ASCII character set is shown in Appendix G. Lowercase characters are always upshifted (changed to upper case) unless they are part of a literal or values for a data item of type X.
