HP System Dictionary XL Gen. Ref. Vol. 2-Part 1 SDINIT
Chapter 1 Introduction
SDINIT Overview
The System Dictionary initialization utility is a program which is
included in the product, and which must be run before System Dictionary
can be used. The initialization process, which creates and defines the
dictionary (actually a database) is accomplished by the System Dictionary
initialization program, SDINIT. This program sets the capacities of the
dictionary, creates a new dictionary database, and initializes it with
the core set. It is usually run by the individual responsible for the
dictionary.
The core set is the set of entity types, relationship types, relationship
classes, and attributes which are provided by System Dictionary at
installation time. You can add to this basic set to accommodate whatever
special needs your installation requires. The core set is described in
detail in Chapter 6 of the HP System Dictionary/XL General Reference
Manual, Volume 1 (32256-90004).
The SDINIT program also allows you to change the dictionary capacities or
the dictionary database password at any time, by reinitializing the
dictionary and making these changes. Reinitialization can occur as often
as necessary, and, like initialization, is usually done by the individual
responsible for the dictionary.
The initialization/reinitialization procedures are prompt-driven.
Therefore, after you enter the RUN command, you will be prompted for all
necessary initialization/reinitialization information.
