receiving a message.
Message Handling System (MHS)
The MHS is a collection of User Agents (UAs)and the Message Transfer

recipients. It facilitates the preparation of messages, routes those
messages, recovers from errors, delivers the messages, and notifies users
of success or failure of operations.
User Agent (UA).
The UA provides users with the ability to manage messages. It also
provides them with access to their mail, and the capabilities to create,
send, and receive messages.
Message Transfer System (MTS).
The MTS is a collection of one or more Message Transfer Agents (MTAs).
It provides the delivery service for messages.
Message Transfer Agent (MTA).
The MTA is usually a node in a store-and-forward network with any number
of UAs associated with it. The MTA is responsible for all envelope
