To activate the X.400 configuration,

   * Select the ENABLE item from the Configure X.400 Menu.

This displays the Activate the Configuration window.

[]
Figure 10-1. Activate the Configuration Window This screen updates the configuration files since all configuration changes are made to temporary files. The configuration must be activated for the X.400 processes to recognize the changes.
NOTE You cannot activate the configuration until an initial configuration is completed and routes exist.
To activate the configuration, * Press the Confirm key. If any HP X.400/HP Desk Nodes are configured, a new .rhostsfile that contains the names of all the HP X.400/HP Desk Nodes is created for user hpdesk. This allows X.400 commands to execute remotely from the HP X.400/HP Desk Node. The message Recreating /usr/spool/x400/eiq/.rhosts file containing names of HP X.400/HP Desk Nodes. displays which verifies that the .rhosts file was created. If the Sendmail connectionis configured, activating the configuration replaces the configuration files read by the X.400 processes. Progress messages display the files being copied. An error message displays if a problem exists. When activating the configuration is complete, one of two messages displays. If the configuration was activated successfully, the following message appears: The configuration has been successfully activated. If an error occurred during activation, the following message appears: Error: An error occurred while activating the configuration. If this message appears, contact your HP representative. When activating the configuration is complete, * Press the space bar to return to the Configure X.400 Menu. To cancelactivating the configuration, * Press the Cancel key. If you configured the local MTA's TSAP or SSAP, after the successful configuration activation message displays, the following warning appears: WARNING: The local TSAP or local SSAP value has been changed. You must restart RTS in order for RTS to read in the new TSAP or SSAP value. This is a reminder that you must restart OTS and then the RTS because you configured the local TSAP or SSAP. If you configured fields to log for billing, after the successful configuration activation message displays, the following appears: WARNING: The fields to log for billing configuration information has changed. You must stop and start the MTA in order for the MTA to read in the new billing information. This is a reminder that you must start and stop the MTA because you configured billing information.
NOTE The X.400 configuration information for X.400 is in the .conf filesin the directory /usr/lib/x400. The X.400 components use the configuration information in these files. When you press the Perform Task key in a configuration screen, changes made to the X.400 configuration are written to temporary files, .conf.new files. Any changes you make in x4admin are made to these .conf.new files, not to the .conf files. When you activate the configuration in x4admin, the .conf.new files are copied to the .conf files, and the .conf.new files are deleted. If you exit x4admin without enabling the configuration, you are asked to save or delete the .conf.new files. If you save the files, the next time you run x4admin and enter the Configure X.400 Menu, you are warned that the configuration information used is the information in the .conf.new files, not the .conf files being used by the X.400 components.
