Installing and Configuring HP X.400 Administrator's Guide

Remsh9k Utility

The remsh9kutility allows the execution of some X.400 commands from the
HP X.400/HP Desk Node. The remsh9k file is a daemon which runs in the
background and resides in the /usr/lib/x400 directory. When you select
START from the Perform X.400 Maintenance Menu (see Chapter 6) or execute
x4start (see Appendix B), it automatically starts the remsh9k daemon if
any HP X.400/HP Desk Nodes are configured. However, when you select
SHUTDOWN from the Perform X.400 Maintenance Menu or execute x4stop (see
Appendix B), it does not stop remsh9k. This daemon must always run so
that X.400 commands can be executed from the HP X.400/HP Desk Node.
Select START or use x4startafter HP X.400 software installation and after
a system reboot to ensure that remsh9k is running.

NOTE If X.400 is started from the Osiadmin X.400 Menu, you are asked if you want to add x4start to the /etc/netlinkrc file. This allows the necessary X.400 processes to start automatically when the system is rebooted.
