Installing and Configuring HP X.400 Administrator's Guide

Chapter 4  Installing X.400 

This chapter describes the procedures you follow to install X.400 on the
disk.  It describes how X.400 works, and describes your role as the
Network Administrator.  Read this chapter carefully since it describes
the necessary preparationbefore configuring X.400.

Preparation involves:

   1.  Understanding the roles of the people involved in the system, and
       assigning responsibility to them, if necessary.

   2.  Checking that you have all of the required equipment.

   3.  Checking that you have the right software configuration.

   4.  Installing X.400.

   5.  Reviewing the installation checklist.


NOTE This chapter covers the installation of X.400 on your HP 9000computer system. It assumes that the HP-UX operating systemversion 8.0 has already been installed and configured. If the HP-UX operating system is not installed, please refer to the HP-UX Installation Reference manual. If you plan to develop applications using the HP X.400 API, you need to install the C-TOOLS fileset from the HP-UX tape. The fileset contains the library /usr/lib/libl.a with which you need to link.
You can install X.25, LAN, OTS/9000, and X.400in any order. It is recommended that you first install all products before configuring them. Configuration should occur in the following order: 1. X.25 and/or LAN 2. OSI Transport Services/9000 (OTS/9000) 3. HP X.400
