O/R Address Attributes and Forms
In order for MHS users to address other MHS users, the X.400 standard
specifies an address convention referred to as an Originator/Recipient
address (O/R address). It is constructed by using a combination of the
following fields:
* Country
* Administration management domain
* Private management domain
* Organization name
* Organization unit names
* Personal name
* UA unique numeric identifier
* X.121 address
* Telematic terminal identifier
* Domain defined attributes
* Physical delivery attributes (1988 X.400 only)
Forms of the 1988 X.400 Standard
There are no defined forms of O/R addresses in the 1988 X.400 standard.
Any combination of the O/R address attributes can be used.
Forms and Variants of the 1984 X.400 Standard
There are two defined forms of O/R address in the 1984 X.400 standard
Within the first form, there are three variants.
1984 X.400 systems may not be able to handle undefined forms of O/R
addresses.

The first variant consists of one or more attributes such as personal

the user's UA from other UAs controlled by the same authority. Terminals
with numeric keypads can use this form to enter O/R addresses. The third
variant consists of an X.121 address. The escape digit defined for telex
may be used to identify store-and-forward telexes. An originator may use
only one of these representations per recipient.
Form 2.

Telematic terminal identifier (optional)
Form 2 consists of an X.121 address. It specifies the originator or
recipient of a message by identifying the telematic terminal.

HP's X.400 using the Sendmail connection for sending, receiving,
and routing using mailx or elm.
