   *   How the HP 3000 Series 900 initially recognizes devices and how it
       communicates with them from that time on.

   *   How devices are owned, who can own them, and the restrictions that
       apply when a device is owned.

   *   How the MPE/iX file system perceives devices and its response to
       some of their characteristics.

   *   How different device operation modes set the functionality of
       devices.

   *   How the connection type sets certain device characteristics.
