HP COBOL II/XL Quick Reference Guide

EDIT 

The EDIT command calls the EDIT/3000 subsystem, and optionally allows you
to name a module from the currently active library to be edited.

Syntax 

     EDIT [ text-name ]

Parameters 

text-name             the name of a module in the currently active
                      library.
